This is a very local takeaway from for me specialising in Southern Indian cuisine. This is very different from Northern Indo-Pak cookery and hence uses southern spices from areas such as kerala. It does not use lashings of curry sauce or seemingly tandoori dishes. It is more natural tasting to me. I know of no other Southern takeaway in Glasgow although we also have two excellent northern takeaways nearby in Glasgow's West End. Very well worth exploring from an extremely long and high quality menu. It my first visit and I am very impressed and can give the tandoori chicken a well-deserved rest for a while. Like the Terminator I'll be back. Incidentally, service to my door, albeit only 100m away, was extremely fast and I have no complaints at all. Final comment is that the place looks modest with a few tables to eat (no, I don't mean that they cook the tables) in the premises. Final point is that amazingly it is cheaper than its northern competition in a quiet road near the world reknowned Kelvingrove Art Gallery. 10 out of 10.
[RESUBMITTED]I love the food from the Banana Leaf - they prepare it quickly, package it well and the flavours and spicing are just right, hot but not unbearably so - good, hearty south Indian cuisine. All prices are very reasonable too.
your website says that they dont deliver to postcode G5 0RR but matter of fact they do. Check it out.
This was our first order with Banana Leaf, and having heard friends rave about it we had high expectations. We weren't disappointed! The food was superb, easily the best takeaway we've had in Glasgow. Good value for money and delighted that they delivered (for free!) to Ibrox - very few takeaways dare to cross the river. Can't wait for our next lazy takeaway evening.
Food fantastic and arrived exactly at the estimated time.
Chicken delicious and perfectly cooked. Lots of food for a small price!
Even better than usual last night!
The food was excellent and authentic as always. The quality and quantity are too good for the value. And not to mention the delivery was speedy enough. I have been a regular customer since last 3 years now and would reorder soon.
Best Indian in Glasgow by miles, and they cater wonderfully for vegans. Thank you!
The food was excellent, and there was a slight delay as Hungry House had said it would be unreasonably fast. Despite the fact it wasn't their fault, Banana Leaf gave us some free popadoms to apologise for us having to wait. Top stuff.
They forgot to include the Chapati and Paratha, but they happily gave me them when I went back.
I am a regular customer of this restaurant for the last three years and most of the time have food delivered to my home. I have to say that I am always extremely happy with the food and the overall service. This restaurant offers the most authentic south Indian food in Glasgow to my opinion. The taste and the quality of food are simply awesome and take you to the journey of real South India. The delivery speed is very good and the quantity of food is excellent value for money. They also take good care of my requests like less/more spicy or less oil etc. Last time I ordered from this restaurant was last evening and I had a reason for that. A few days back I had an expensive dinner in one Indian restaurant in Glasgow and I had such a bad experience and terrible quality food that I had to erase my bad memory of Indian restaurant. And the best option I could think of was Banana leaf, a small gem in the West end of Glasgow. I hope that they will continue to deliver the highest quality food.
The quality at Banana Leaf is brilliant as always, turned up in no time at all. Did forget the chapatis in the order though.
We had the joy of visiting Banana Leaf to sit in a few weeks ago, and it was of great pleasure that we enjoyed their cuisine in the comfort of our own home last night. The range of truly authentic food available to order at hungryhouse was excellent, and it was nice to benefit from the same truly barginous prices. The order was with us within 20 minutes, so we didn't have to wait long to tuck into our feast. My Husband had Lamb Chettinadu - the same dish I had when we visited the restaurant, and it was every bit as flavoursome and delicious. I tried the Paneer Butter Masala - what a treat. Warming with a hint of fruitiness, and roti on the side; our plates were clean far too quickly! Visit Banana Leaf if you want to venture away from what appears to be very run of the mill Indian food, and treat yourself to a really different and exciting plateful! Needless to say, we will continue to give Banana Leaf our custom, and wouldn't hesitate to order through hungryhouse.co.uk again.
